Why We Built This Site
Alabama gives residents a right to inspect and copy public records under Ala. Code Section 36-12-40, subject to records that are sealed, confidential, expunged, or restricted by another law. In Dallas County, the hard part is often knowing which office holds the file. Circuit Clerk Lynnethia Bennett's office handles Circuit Court, District Court, criminal, civil, domestic, child support, juvenile, traffic, small claims, and related case records. Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn's Probate Office handles Probate Court functions, recording records, marriage certificate recording, name changes, guardianships, conservatorships, involuntary commitments, notary matters, and elections.
The county record system also includes the Dallas County Sheriff's Department for jail, warrants, courthouse security, civil process, subpoenas, and law-enforcement functions. Statewide Alabama systems add another layer for trial-court access, traffic payments, appellate records, vital records, and criminal-history review.

- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, address, or office hour listed on this site is current right now
Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point to the likely office, but the document has to come from that office.
