The public portal describes trial-court case reports that include court setting dates, court actions and rulings, party details, a case action summary, financial information and costs, and document images or attachments when available. Name searches and case-number searches are both listed by the portal.
- Identify the court level first. Circuit, District, small claims, traffic, domestic, criminal, and child support matters use Alabama trial-court systems or the Dallas County Circuit Clerk.
- Use a case number when possible. Docket entries are easier to match when the same number appears on notices, tickets, filings, or mail from the clerk.
- Review the setting dates and action summary. A docket may show a hearing date, order, continuance, plea entry, judgment, or cost entry.

Dallas County Docket Sources
Dallas County docket lookup is not one source for every court. Circuit and District Court docket material routes through the Circuit Clerk and the statewide trial-court system. Probate dockets and probate case records use the Probate Office and the county's Ingenuity portal. Appellate dockets are separate. Federal dockets for the Selma federal court location are not Dallas County state court records and use federal systems.

Docket vs Case Record
A Dallas County court docket is a map of events. The full case record is the file behind those events. For example, a docket may show that a motion was filed or an order was entered. The actual motion or order may require a document image purchase, clerk request, certified copy request, or in-person file review. This is why docket lookup is useful for tracking status, but limited for legal review.

Dallas County Traffic Dockets
Traffic dockets need special care because Dallas County's traffic page gives detailed date and payment rules. The ticket shows the date to appear in court. All traffic tickets are scheduled for a specified day, time, and place at the Dallas County Courthouse. A person must either come to court on the date shown or pay before the court date if the charge is payable without an appearance. Clerk staff cannot grant continuances, and continuance requests must be written to the judge with the case number.
Failure to appear or pay before the court date can lead to an alias warrant and driver-license suspension without prior notice. DUI, driving with suspended license, reckless driving, and traffic violations not listed in the fine chart cannot be paid without court appearance. Those cases may show docket activity before a final fine or disposition is entered.

Appellate and Federal Dockets
Dallas County state trial cases can move to the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals, Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals, or Supreme Court of Alabama.
